Trip of the Patronatsverein / Prague September 5 – 8, 2025
THREE OPERA HOUSES
The Bartered Bride | Bedrich Smetana | Nationaltheater Prag
This opera full of irony, wit and joie de vivre has been considered the most popular Czech opera for more than 150 years. The current production not only tells the story, but also humorously describes how an opera is rehearsed.
Don Giovanni | Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart | Ständetheater Prag
The Ständetheater was inaugurated in 1783, making it the oldest of the three opera houses in Prague. It was here that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart himself conducted the premiere of his opera “Don Giovanni” on October 29, 1787.
Nabucco | Giuseppe Verdi | Staatsoper Prag
The Staatsoper Prague was founded in 1888, just a few years after the National Theater, and was originally called the “New German Theater”. We see “Nabucco” in the production from 2024, which was described as “elegant, politically clever and dramaturgically coherent”.
Accompanying program: Guided tour of the historic Old Town with a focus on the history of music and through the “Lesser Town” of the historic center, visit to Prague Castle and the Kampa Museum

Smiling through the seriousness of time | St. Pauli Theater
An amusing reminiscence of Heinz Erhardt, the great entertainer who enchanted his audience with his mischievous wit and sometimes enigmatic humor.

The times are racing | Hamburgische Staatsoper
This fascinating ballet evening with the Hamburg Ballet brings together four works by famous choreographers and spans the last 50 years of ballet history.
Tosca | Hamburgische Staatsoper
Giacomo Puccini’s “Tosca” is one of the world’s most popular and most frequently performed operas. We experience the Italian soprano Carmen Giannattasio in the role of Floria Tosca and the Korean tenor Young Woo Kim in the role of Mario Cavaradossi.
